How to use Bitcoin Lab Charts
A quick guide to time lens, trace slots, favorites, settings, login, and shareable URLs.
Quick Start
Get to a useful chart in under a minute.
- Pick a Time Lens (e.g. 3Y) to set the window.
- Add a metric to Trace 1 (and optionally Traces 2–3) to compare signals.
- Use the sliders button on a trace to open Metric Settings.
- Use Favorites to quickly re-add metrics you use often (log in to persist them).
Time Lens
Time Lens controls the time window shown on the chart.
- Shorter windows show more detail; longer windows show broader context.
- Smaller Time Lens will increase resolution below d1 (e.g. h12, h8, h4).
Trace Slots (1–3)
Each trace slot is one metric line/series on the chart. You can compare up to three metrics at once.
- Click a trace slot name to browse/search the metric catalogue.
- Use the sliders button on a trace to open its settings.
- Disable a trace slot to declutter comparisons.
Metric Settings
Metric Settings control how a trace is displayed and processed.
- Style: line/bar, fill, stacking, colors.
- Scale: axis scale/assignment where available.
- Smoothing & filters: e.g. smoothed average.
- Log in to save settings to your profile and reuse them next time.
Favorites & Login
You can browse anonymously, but logging in unlocks persistence and speed.
- Favorites: keep a personal shortlist of metrics you use often.
- Saved settings: keep per-metric display/transform settings across sessions.
- Consistency: your theme preference and chart behavior follow you.
Shareable URLs
Use the link button in the top bar to copy a URL that recreates your current selection.
- Metrics:
?m1=<metric_id>&m2=<metric_id>&m3=<metric_id> (omit any slot to disable it).
- Time Lens:
&view=<TIME_LENS> (example: view=3Y).
- Tip: URLs are safe to share — they only encode chart selections, not authentication.
